Studio portrait of 3640 Private (Pte) Frederick James Williams, 8th Reinforcements, 21st Battalion. A miner of Long Gully, Vic, Pte Williams enlisted on 7 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Demosthenes on 29 December 1915. He was killed in action on 14 December 1917, whilst serving with the 57th Battalion in Belgium, aged 24 years.
