Description

It is cold work for the soldiers of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) when they have to move out to their battle positions in the Kansas Line in Korea. But if the war did get 'hot' again, the enemy would not wait for warm weather before they put in their attack, so this constant practice goes on whether it be hot or cold, in the snow or rain or dust. Here, moving up a snowy ridge to his position in the line is Bren gunner 13433 Private (Pte) Elliot Samuel (Sam) Lifu of Babinda, Qld. Before he joined the army Pte Lifu was cane cutting at Bellenden Ker, Qld, and played halfback for the Babinda League Club.
