Description
Former Queensland drover 12677 Private (Pte) Frederick Walter (Fred) Russell of Rockhampton, Qld, is working on the United Nations' Kansas defence line in Korea. The line stretches over the hills and valleys near the 38th Parallel. Pte Russell, who is now a member of B Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), is clearing the front of his company's command post bunker. Pte Russell has been in the army for two and a half years, and has been overseas for nine months. He spent four months in Japan before joining 3RAR in March this year.
