Description

Surveying aneroid (compensated) in leather shoulder carrying case. Calibrated in 20 foot units on outer scale (0-6000 feet) and inches on the inner scale (31-25 inches). A brass gear adjustment turns the scale and a magnifier is attached to the outer rim. Printed on the face is 'Surveying Aneroid Compensated A.G. BARKER & ASSOCIATES MELBOURNE Made in England'. Engraved on the back is 'DE1'. The leather case is lined and has an adjustable shoulder strap 80cm in length. On one side of the case is a rectangular sticker, and written on the other side is ¿22 CONST SQN'.

History / Summary

The Surveying Aneroid is a mapping tool used for measuring elevation. It was possibly used during the Second World War and by 22 Construction Squadron in the post war period.
