Informal portrait of the artist, Grace Cossington Smith, walking down a Sydney street. Cossington Smith, the daughter of English immigrants, received training from Dattilo Rubbo in Sydney between 1909 and 1912 and after this travelled in Britain and Europe for two years. She is regarded as one of the leaders of the avant-garde movement in Australia.
