Description

StG (Sturmgewehr)44 assault rifle. The weapon is a gas operated, select fire, magazine fed weapon made primarily from metal stampings with the exception of the operating parts which are manufactured in ordnance steel. The butt stock is made from laminated wood and the pistol grip is ribbed. It is marked on the left side of the action with 'StG44', the serial number and 'ai/45'. The sights are a hooded post front and an adjustable ramp at the rear. There is a spring loaded cover plate on the ejector port and a ball ended stacking spike at the fore end near the muzzle. Complete with a curved pressed steel magazine that has reinforcement ribs down the sides. The feed device 30 round detachable staggered box magazine. The front sight is of the hooded barleycorn type. The rear sight is tangent w/U notch type.

History / Summary

The StG 44 was used by the German Army during the final phase of the Second World War and introduced the assault rifle concept.
