Description

Group portrait of three members of the Eedy family. Identified, left to right: 1540 Gunner (Gnr) Ronald Frederick Eedy, 1st Reinforcements, 17th Battalion, of South Brisbane, Qld. Gnr Eedy enlisted on 5 April 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Themistocles on 12 May 1915. He was killed in action on 22 October 1917 at Passchendaele, Belgium, aged 20 years. His father, 2249 Private (Pte) William Ferrier Eedy, 8th Squadron, 2nd Remount Unit, of South Brisbane, Qld, aged 49 years. Pte Eedy enlisted on 14 October 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Orontes on 10 November 1915. He returned to Australia on 18 October 1916; and 3316 Lance Corporal (LCpl) George William Eedy, 11th Reinforcements, 14th Battalion, of South Brisbane, Qld, aged 21 years. LCpl Eedy enlisted on 3 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Nestor on 11 October 1915. He returned to Australia on 10 September 1917. Two other brothers 1732 Gunner Peter Ferrier Eedy, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, and 3403 Private Neil Arthur Matthew Eedy, AAMC, also served with the AIFSee also P04486.001.
