Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) A G Cameron, Commanding Officer, 3rd Australian Infantry Battalion, a Militia Battalion that has been incorporated into the 25th Australian Infantry Brigade, 7th Division AIF, is seen giving a final talk to some of his men before they set out on a long patrol from Menari. It was this patrol that captured a Japanese soldier. Lt Col Cameron has seen much service in the Owen Stanleys; after coming out of Rabaul he was appointed to the 30th Australian Infantry Brigade (CMF) in Port Moresby, was sent up the Kokoda Track with Lt Col Owen and the 39th. Australian Infantry Battalion (CMF). He took over command of the battalion on the death of Lt Col Owen. He later led out the 53rd Australian Infantry Battalion from the mountainous country back to Port Moresby. He was then given command of the 3rd Battalion. Also, possibly, identified standing left (shirtless) is, QX15205 William Herbert Coleman, 7th Signals Company, of Cairns, Qld.
