RAAF officer's cap : Flying Officer C K Flockhart, 619 Squadron, RAF
Royal Australian Air Force blue peaked officer's cap. The cap has a woven black mohair hat band and patent leather black chin strap secured by plain black buttons. A gilded metal officer's RAAF badge is attached to the front of the hat band and the underside of the brim is lined with blue cloth. The sweatband is made of brown leather and the inside of the cap is lined with brown polished cotton. A white maker's label is sewn inside the crown and has been marked in black ink 'F/O FLOCKHART'.
This cap belonged to 428679 Flying Officer Colin Kelvin Flockhart. Flockhart, a bank officer from Sydney, was born in Ashfield, NSW in February 1924 and enlisted in the RAAF on 10 October 1942. He was killed in action over France on 8 January 1945 while serving with 619 Squadron, Royal Air Force. He is buried in St Corneille Cemetery.
