Josiah Barnes collection of First World War negatives and prints
Description
Troops of 23rd Reinforcements, 7th Battalion prior to boarding HMAT Hororata (A20). Identified are, front row, second from right: 7048 Private (Pte) Edwin Vivian Nicholls, Fellmonger, of West Footscray, Victoria, and front row, sitting, seventh from left: 6955 Pte William Boland, Salesman, of Albert Park, Victoria. Pte Nicholls died of pneumonia on 18 February 1918 and is buried in Balleul Cemetery, France.
