Josiah Barnes collection of First World War negatives and prints
Members of the Australian Camel Field Ambulance prior to boarding HMAT Boorara (A42). Identified, front row, left, holding a large flag with its staff at an angle on the wharf is 16920 Private (Pte) William Raub Bibby, of Waterloo Plains, Vic; immediately to the left of him is one of three acting corporals, either: 16848 Daniel Thomas Riordan, 16893 Harry Woods or 16914 Eric George Redwood. Second to the right of soldier crouching and holding a small white flag with a vertical stripe is 16892 Pte James Andrew Woodcock, of Newtown, NSW, crouching and holding kitbag, then 16957 Pte John Ernest Hull, of East St Kilda, Victoria. In the second row, centre standing behind the soldier crouching with a small white flag with a vertical stripe is 16943 Pte James Purcell, of West Brunswick, Vic. Known to be in the group is 16925 Pte Herbert Charles Cook, of Coburg, Victoria; his named kitbag is on the extreme right.
