M368 106 mm Drill Cartridge for M40A1 Recoilless Rifle
The M368 106 millimeter dummy cartridge is designed for the M40A1 recoilless rifle and simulates the M346A1 High Explosive Plastic - Tracer (HEP-T) cartridge for drill purposes and contains no propellant. The cartridge case is made from steel, is tapered, bottlenecked and distinguished by having staggered perforations in the sidewalls. The cartridge case is in natural metal finish. The base of the cartridge case has provision for a centrally located M57 percussion primer which is force fitted to the cartridge case. The projectile is made steel and features a contoured, spitzer nose. No provision is made for a fuze. The projectile is crimped into the cartridge case and is painted black. The cartridge was used by the Australian Army to simulate the M346A1 High Explosive Plastic - Tracer (HEP-T) for drill purposes.
