Commemorative medallion : Flying Officer M McLennan, Baghdad Airport Detachment, RAAF
Small gilded medallion enamelled on the obverse with a green outline of Iraq superimposed with a gold coloured Air Traffic Control tower. An Australian flag flys from the top. A black band encircles the outside edge and contains the words 'BAGHDAD AIRPORT DETACHMENT OPERATION FALCONER- IRAQ 2003'. The reverse of the medallion features the emblem and motto of the Royal Australian Air Force. The medallion is stored within a clear plactic case marked on one side in raised lettering with the maker's contact details.
This medallion was made to mark the involvement of the RAAF Baghdad Airport Detachment with Operation Falconer, Iraq in 2003. This example was collected by Flying Officer Matthew McLennan who served with the detachment as an Air Traffic Controller.
