Bungee straps for Observer type chest parachute : Royal Australian Air Force
Description
Set of six bungee straps to fit an 'Observer' type chest parachute. The elastic of the straps is covered with cotton fabric flecked with blue and yellow, or blue and black, threads. The straps have a black painted metal hook sewn to each end for attachment to the parachute pack.
History / Summary
A set of elastic bungee straps, used on the 'Observer' type parachute pack. The straps attach to hooks on the back of the parachute, and are stretched around to the front, where they attach to hooks on the ripcord cover. When the ripcord is pulled, the bungee straps help to spring the pack open, freeing the parachute.
