German words and German deeds...
British First World War poster of anti-German propaganda. Text only the poster is composed of two lists printed in red and black ink. The first is a group of quotations taken from German sources, letters and diaries attesting to the honorable conduct and ideals of Germany and the German Army and Navy. The second is a counter list of atrocities committed by Germany as quoted in soldiers diaries, the Bryce report, the British Admiralty and proceedings of the French senate in 1917. Among the atrocities highlighted are the massacre of the Belgiums during the invasion in 1914, German troop misconduct and brutality, the sinking of the Lusitania and a British Steam ship, murder of clergy and the desecration of French graves and churches. The title is printed in red ink and positioned across the top.
