Iraqi date bag
Yellow woven plastic bag, with a clear plastic skin, which previously contained 10 kilograms of dates for export. The front of the bag is printed in brown and green with a border of date palms. In the centre is a large date palm. Above it is 'HILLWA BRAND'. Beneath is 'SELECTED GOLDEN ZAHDI DATES'. The back of the bag is printed in brown with the supplier's name, address and telephone number in arabic script. The bag is secured at the bottom by a row of white synthetic machine chain-stitching, and at the top by a row of green cotton machine chain-stitching.
Dates, along with oil, were the most important contraband items sought and impounded by members of the Allied coalition serving as part of the Maritime Interception Operations (MIO) force in the Gulf, enforcing United Nations sanctions against Iraq.
