Men wanted for the Army
Description
Recruitment poster issued by the United States Army prior to the First World War. One of a series produced featuring colour reproductions of paintings by Michael Whelan. This one is a depiction of soldiers training in the field. In the foreground a group of soldiers are manning a field telephone. In the mid ground another group are manning a field artillery gun while in the background 3 signalers are using flags. The image takes up the whole with the title text ' Men Wanted for the Army' printed in red ink overlayed in the upper right. Further text printed in black ink is positioned in the white border across the bottom of the poster. Space is available across the bottom for local recruitment station details to be added.
