Description

A British First World War poster issued by the Parliamentary War Savings Committee (No.15).The image is a three-quarter length view of a man, seen in profile, facing right and reaching into his pocket. To the left is a silhouette image of a factory and on the right a field gun, limber and team, also in silhouette. The titled is positioned across the top and the subtitle across the bottom set within a brown rectangle.

The Parliamentary Recruiting Committee (PRC) was set up in August 1914. It was a cross party organisation which engaged the infrastructure of parliamentary constituencies to support recruitment. The PRC published 200 posters by the time conscription was introduced in January 1916. In July 1915 the PRC became the Parliamentary War Savings Committee and began to publish posters like this one, aimed at civilians, to encourage donations to the war effort.
