Care is costly : buy and hold war bonds
Description
To fund the war effort the United States Treasury issued war bonds which the public could purchase. The money raised was used for soldiers uniforms, weapons and other supplies. The war bonds were similar to an investment, it was a loan to the government. The war bonds were also a means designed to control inflation.
