Description

Group portrait of three officers of the 2nd Field Ambulance on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Identified (right) is Major William Weston Hearne, Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC), who was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) in 1917 and was later killed in action on the Western Front on 17 October 1917. He is holding a folding Kodak camera in a leather case. Also thought to be one of the group is Captain Balcombe Quick, AAMC, who was later awarded the DSO in November 1918 while holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
