Don't let that shadow touch them: Buy war bonds
Description
Second World War poster issued by the U.S Treasury in 1942. It's design by Lawrence B. Smith is an example of dramatic storytelling through a single emotive image aimed at galvanising support for the war. It depicts a group of children at play under a shadowy swastika. The younger siblings are unaware of its significance while their older brother clearly understands the looming threat it represents. The designer wants the viewers to identify with the young boy and to be motivated to buy war bonds to protect their families.
