A few careless words may end in this...
Description
Depicts a ship sinking into a stormy ocean, with the men escaping from the sinking ship in the foreground rowing a boat. Smoke billows from the ship against a grim sky. This British Second World War poster is cautioning against the discussion of war-related news. Beneath the title are these words: 'Many lives were lost in the last war through careless talk. Be on your guard! Don't discuss movements of ships or troops'. During the war, the British Government were concerned about the possibility of German spies in Britain. The Government produced a series of posters on the theme of 'careless talk', warning people of the dangers of discussing troop and ship movements.
