That liberty shall not perish from the Earth...
Description
American First World War poster promoting the sale of Liberty Bonds as part of the Fourth Liberty Loan Campaign in 1918. Printed in vivid orange and yellows it depicts a headless Statue of Liberty in front of burning buildings after an air raid, poster quotes from the Declaration of Independence: 'That liberty shall not perish from the earth' and urges purchase of liberty bonds in the fourth liberty loan. Pennell originally wanted the caption to read "Buy Liberty Bonds or You Will See This". This poster was produced in a print run of 500,000 copies for the Fourth Liberty Loan.
