Description
A studio semi profile portrait of George Henry Fawcett. A mining engineer and accountant before the First World War, Fawcett enlisted on 29 March 1916 and served as an NCO with the 4th Battalion and the No. 5 Tunnelling Company. He was commissioned as Lieutenant in April 1918, and served as Intelligence Officer for 3rd Division Headquarters for the remainder of the war. He resigned from the AIF to take up a commission in the British Army in 1919
