Major Felix Gordon Giles Commanding Officer of the 10th Battalion, standing outside the dugout of the Commanding Officer of the 10th Battalion, holding an improvised Turkish 'stick' mortar, made of a shell case filled with 14 sticks of dynamite and mounted on a rough sapling stick. It was fired from the direction of Lone Pine.
