De Vry film metal magazine: ANZAC Division, British War Relief Society Inc, USA
Large khaki green crackle finished circular movie magazine, with a steel hinge on one side and a steel clasp on the other, augmented by a chromed lifting knob. The base of the magazine incorporates a steel wheeled film feed gate; this fitting continues round the back where it forms the spindle drive for the enclosed film - the spindle continues on the inside to support the spooled film. The lid of the magazine bears an circular red enamelled brass name plate with the words: 'De Vry / Chicago / Made in U.S.A. / MOTION PICTURE / SOUND EQUIPMENT'. The interior is finished in medium grey and contains a black 360mm x 40mm 35mm steel film spool impressed 'UNITED ARTISTS', with approximately 5 metres of 35mm film left on it - it is part of the countdown to a film.
This film cannister was donated by the ANZAC Division of the British War Relief Society of the United States of America for use by Australian and American forces in Australia.
