History / Summary
These items of 'Tek Art' were manufactured by VX25458 Sergeant Laurie Crump, AIF, while serving in New Guinea. Sgt Crump exchanged his beer ration with nearby US troops in exchange for toothbrushes, the handles of which provided the plastic which he used in his handicrafts. The aluminium was taken from wrecked aircraft in the local area. The only tools used in the construction of the utensils were an army knife, a small hammer and a nail file.
