Gauges and components
Description
Gauges and Components represents gun parts and factory objects related to the manufacture of Bren guns. This painting forms part of a series of forty works by Dore Hawthorne titled Factory Folk. The series depicts life and work at the Lithgow Small Arms Factory, where the artist worked from 1942 -1945 assembling Bren guns. She painted her Factory Folk series under the pseudonym 'Brendorah', conflating her name and the gun that dominated her life.
