SINGAPORE ROADS. 1956-11. PORT BOW VIEW OF THE DESTROYER HMS COCKADE (D34) WITH THE SHIP'S COMPANY MANNING THE SIDE AND CHEERING. HER 4.5 INCH MARK 5 MOUNTINGS ARE CONTROLLED BY A MARK 6M DIRECTOR FITTED WITH TYPE 275 FIRE CONTROL RADAR. X 4.5 INCH GUN HAS BEEN REPLACED BY A DECKHOUSE WHICH FUNCTIONS AS A HANDLING ROOM FOR THE TWO SQUID ANTI SUBMARINE MORTARS MOUNTED JUST FORWARD OF IT. SINGLE 40 MM BOFORS MARK 7 AA GUNS ARE MOUNTED IN THE BRIDGE WINGS AND IMMEDIATELY ABAFT THE FUNNEL. A TWIN MARK 5 BOFORS IS FITTED AMIDSHIPS AND CONTROLLED BY THE SIMPLE TACHYMETRIC DIRECTOR JUST FORWARD OF THE MOUNTING. A TYPE 293 AERIAL IS AT THE MASTHEAD. THE SHIP IS PART OF THE 8TH DESTROYER FLOTILLA AS INDICATED BY THE NUMBER ON THE FUNNEL. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION)
