AERIAL PORT SIDE VIEW OF THE FRIGATE HMAS BURDEKIN (K376) AT SPEED, SHOWING WARTIME CHANGES. SHE IS NO LONGER PAINTED ALL OVER GREY BUT NOW WEARS WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE US NAVY'S MEASURE 22. IF SO THE COLOURS ARE A MEDIUM GREY AND NAVY BLUE. OF HER ORIGINAL EIGHT SINGLE 20 MM OERLIKON AA GUNS ONLY THE TWO IN THE BRIDGE WINGS REMAIN. THOSE AT THE BREAK OF THE FORECASTLE HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY A SINGLE MOUNTING BUT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT IS A TWIN 20 MM MOUNT OR A 40 MM BOFORS. A BOFORS HAS REPLACED THE TWO 20 MM MOUNTINGS ON THE QUARTERDECK. FURTHER SINGLE BOFORS ARE FITTED ON DECKHOUSES FORWARD OF THE BRIDGE AND THE AFTER GUN. THE 4 INCH GUNS HAVE BEEN FITTED WITH LARGER SHIELDS. THE TYPE 271 RDAR HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE BRIDGE ALTHOUGH THE SC-1 REMAINS AT THE MASTHEAD. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION)
