Description
Palmerston, NT. 20 September 1999. Prime Minister John Howard, shaking hands with Captain Jason Ross of A Field Battery, Royal Australian Artillery, in the Robertson Barracks compound. Prime Minister John Howard, accompanied by other politicians, travelled to Darwin to farewell Australian troops prior to their departure to join the International Force for East Timor (Interfet). Also identified are, second from left, Lieutenant (Lt) Chris Doppler, Lt James Kiwi, Major Nick Herman, Lt Jake Jordans (partially obscured) and Lt Matt Campbell (partially obscured by the Prime Minister), all are members of the 3rd Battalion (Parachute), the Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR).
