POTSHOT, EXMOUTH GULF, WA. 1943-04-28. UNLOADING AUSTRALIAN ARMY AND UNITED STATES NAVY STORES. THE STORES AND EQUIPMENT ARE LOADED ONTO PONTOONS FROM SHIPS ANCHORED SEVERAL MILES OFF-SHORE AND TOWED TO THE BEACH BY US NAVY TUGS OR LAUNCHES. THIS PICTURE SHOWS A HEAVY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT BEING DRAWN THROUGH THE LOOSE SAND BY A TRACTOR OF UNITED STATES NAVY MOBILE ADVANCED BASE NO. 81. AUSTRALIAN TROOPS MAY BE SEEN WAITING TO UNLOAD TIMBER FROM A PONTOON ON THE RIGHT. THE CARGO VESSEL FROM WHICH THE STORES WERE UNLOADED MAY BE SEEN, TOGETHER WITH PONTOONS ALONGSIDE, ON THE HORIZON.
