Informal portrait of two Aboriginal servicemen, NX43504 Private (Pte) George Leonard and NX43500 Pte Harold West, 14th Reinforcements to the 2/1st Battalion, embarking at Sydney. Pte Leonard, of Goodooga, enlisted on 23 August 1941 and was killed in action in Papua on 23 October 1942, aged 32. Pte West, of Goodooga, enlisted on 23 August 1941 and died of illness in New Guinea on 26 November 1942, aged 31.
