Description
Item 1 - Photocopy of a diary originally written by James R 'Nat' Clifford, describing experiences in Royal Australian Navy during 1912-1919, including service in First World War. Item 2 - Typed transcript of diary. Item 3 - Photocopy of journal (described as a log of HMAS Sydney) written by James Clifford, Eltrudes Cobber and Cocky Lions. Item 4 - Typed transcript of log book. James Clifford was the duty Wireless Operator on HMAS Sydney on 9 November 1914, who picked up the message from Direction Island (Cocos group) telling of the arrival of the SMS Emden.
