Description
Five original First World War diaries (October 1916 to December 1918) compiled by (5543) Sapper Arthur Hadfield relating to his service on the Western Front with 1 Tunnelling Company, 2 Australian Light Railway Company and 1 Light Trench Mortar Battery. Entries relating to tunnelling work include references to mining operations at Hill 60 in October 1916. [Note: a published edition of these diaries exists, 'What did you do in the Great War, Dad?
