Thompson, Francis Clarke (Dan) (Captain), 1888-1964; Milson, Stewart (Captain)
Papers of two soldiers, Captain Stewart Milson of 4 Battalion and Captain Francis Clarke Thompson, of 14 Australian General Hospital, Australian Army Medical Corps. Thompson wrote a transcript entitled "The action between the Sydney and Emden November 9 1914: a few details". Other records include six letters from Captain Stewart Milson to his sister Marjorie. Captain Milson was killed at 6 August 1915 at Lone Pine, Gallipoli. The collection also comprises letters from Captain Francis Thompson to his family 1917-1919; his field message book which documents symptoms and treatment for a variety of illnesses; and his diary (1917). Captain Thompson was a doctor who served with the 2 Light Horse Field Ambulance, 2 Australian General Hospital and 14 Australian General Hospital in Cairo during the First World War. Thompson also wrote in detail about an outbreak of influenza in Cairo and the prevalence of malaria in the Jordan Valley, 1918, while he was at the ANZAC receiving station.
