Description
Copies of diaries, letters, postcards and documents kept by Sgt. Cantwell during his service with the 52nd Battalion in WW1. Covers period from late 1915 to 1919. Includes journey from Australia, camp in Egypt, then movement to France by mid 1916. The 52nd fought at most of the major Australian actions on the Western Front. Diaries contain short entries for almost all days, and are well supplemented by the more detailed letters & postcards.
