Private Harold Thomas Moroney
Description
Private Harold Thomas Moroney (3862, 19th Battalion) was born in Sydney, NSW about April 1899. He was working as a farmer when he enlisted in November 1915. Harold was killed in action on 24 May 1916 during the battle of Pozieres when a heavy artillery barrage caused the trench to collapse. Harold was buried near the trench but later his grave could not be located. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France. Harold's mother later wrote that he was 17 years 3 months of age at the time of his death.
