Description

Flying Officer John Clarence Frankcomb enlisted to the Royal Australian Air Force on 3 January 1941. He completed pilot training in Tasmania and Victoria, and went on to serve with 218 Squadron, based in the United Kingdom. With 218 Squadron, Flying Officer Frankcomb flew Short Stirling aircraft in operations targeting Germany. On 14 September 1942, Flying Officer Frankcomb died in a flying battle over the United Kingdom. He is buried at Marham Cemetery, Norfolk, United Kingdom.
