Private David Clement Smith
Description
Private David Clement Smith (1187, 2nd Battalion) was a labourer from Delegate, NSW. He enlisted in September 1914. David was killed in action on 27 May 1915 on Gallipoli. He was originally buried in the Brown’s Dip North Cemetery, but was later reinterred in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli. David’s mother wrote that he was 17 years 8 months of age. David’s brother, Lance Corporal William Smith, was killed in action in France. Two other brothers, Private Thomas Smith and Driver John William Smith, also served in the Australian Imperial Force.
