Description

Turkish troops being crowded into trucks for passage through the Taurus Mountain tunnels at Adana. Deaths from sickness and railway accidents are frequent on these journeys of demobilised men. Note the Turkish star and crescent symbol and Baghdad painted on the side of the trucks. One of a series of photographs taken on the Gallipoli Peninsula and other areas of Turkey under the direction of Captain C E W Bean of the Australian Historical Mission, during the months of February and March, 1919.
