Description
Studio portrait of three soldiers. One is known to be 2034 Private (Pte) Leslie Leonard Holmes, 3rd Reinforcements, 26th Battalion, of Nile, Tas, aged 19. Pte Holmes enlisted on 25 June 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Makarini on 10 September 1915. He was wounded at Pozieres, France, and died of wounds on 30 July 1916 whilst a prisoner of war.
