Description
Studio portrait of 2003 Private (Pte) Ralph James Mortimer, 9th Reinforcements, 8th Light Horse Regiment, of Tanjil, Vic. Pte Mortimer enlisted on 8 December 1914 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata on 27 September 1915. He as transferred to the 4th Division, Heavy & Medium Trench Mortar Battery on 23 May 1916. Pte Mortimer was reported as missing in action on 3 May 1917 fighting at Bullecourt. He has no known grave and is memorialised at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
