Identified from left to right: (5) Colonel Charles Frederick Cox CB, New South Wales Lancers; (6) Captain Captain Alfred Richard Glynn Begbie, Royal Field Artillery (who was later killed in action at Holspruit on 24 February 1902); (7) Captain George Herbert Lynch, 2nd Mounted Rifles; (4) Colonel Pink CMG DSO; unidentified; (3) Major George Kirkpatrick Ansell DSO, 5th Dragoon Guards (who was later killed in action on 1st September 1914 at Verberie, France); (1) Major General M F Remington CB (later of the 1st Indian Cavalry Division during the First World War); (2) Major General Gordon, Special Service Officers (later Chief of the General Staff, Commonwealth Military Forces)
