Studio portrait of 6756 Private (Pte) Victor William Hindhaugh, 22nd Reinforcements, 5th Battalion, of Yambuk, Vic (left) and 320 (later 2373) Pte Donald Thomas Gibbons, of South Yarra, Vic (right). Pte Hindhaugh enlisted, aged 19 years, on 1 September 1916 and embarked aboard HMAT Ulysses in Melbourne on 25 October 1916. He died of sickness on 18 February 1917. See DA13810 for another image of Pte Hindhaugh. Pte Gibbons originally enlisted on 17 August 1914 and embarked aboard Transport Orvieto in Melbourne on 21 October 1914 as a member of the 5th Battalion. On 3 February 1915 he was admitted to the No 2 Australian General Hospital, Mena House, Cairo. He returned to Australia medically unfit on 28 April 1915 and was discharged on 1 July 1915. Pte Gibbons re-enlisted on 31 August 1915 and was originally due to depart with the 24th Battalion on 5 January 1916. He did not embark and was transferred to the Reserve Company in Broadmeadows from 17 January 1916 through until 9 May 1916. On 16 May 1916 he was transferred to the 4th Reinforcements, 2nd Pioneer Battalion. He embarked aboard HMAT Themistocles in Melbourne on 28 July 1916. On 21 April 1917 he was wounded in action and did not rejoin his unit until 7 May 1917. On 16 June 1918 he was transferred to the 2nd Machine Gun Battalion.
