Bob Hobbes
Description
Garvey's cartoon portrait of Bob Hobbes, from a series of thirty-six pencil drawings made in Syria, Tripoli and Lebanon in 1942 of members of 15 Platoon 'C' Company, 2/32 Battalion, Lebanon 1942. Hobbes is seen in left profile, wearing his uniform but no hat. Robert Francis Hobbes was born in Hamilton, Victoria on 1 May 1919. Enlisting in the Army on 6 July 1940, he was a Private with service number VX45047. He died on 24 July 1942.
