Royal Australian Air Force black neck tie with makers label sewn on inside seam.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of Stanley Hector Gowing. A grazier from Quirindi New South Wales, Gowing enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 31 March 1941. After completing elementary flying school training, Gowing embarked for further training in Canada on 17 July 1941. Graduating as an Air Observer, Gowing served with 279 (air rescue) RAF squadron in England and 200 Squadron West Africa in 1943. Returning to Australia, Gowing completed his war service at 13 Squadron Darwin.
