Description
Studio portrait of 2067 Private (Pte) John Thomas Taylor, 3rd Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Eaglehawk, Vic. Pte Taylor enlisted on 27 May 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Anchises on 26 August 1915. He was killed in action at France on 22 August 1916. Pte Taylor also had three cousins who were killed in action. They were: 1566 Pte Albert James Voller, 24th Battalion, of Eaglehawk, Vic, killed in action at Gallipoli; 3908 Pte John Timothy Priest, 21st Battalion, of Long Gully, Vic, killed in action on 26 August 1916 at Mouquet Farm, Pozieres, France, and 5162 Lance Corporal Alfred Alexander Priest, 6th Battalion, of Woodvale, Vic, who died of wounds on 27 May 1918 in France.
