Diary and correspondence of 2401 Signaller Edward Thomas Woods associated with his service in the 6 Light Horse Regiment and signal units during the First World War. The diary covers the period 19 June 1916-17 August 1919. Brief entries include details of his arrival in Suez Egypt and his transfer to signal headquarters at Tel el Kebir camp. In March 1917 Woods was transferred again to 4th Brigade Headquarters and documents his communication duties in Palestine. Entries for 1918 relate to peace rumours, celebrations of Armistice and his return to Australia on the Oxfordshire in July 1919. Other items in the collection include an extensive series of letters from Woods to his family, 1916-1919.
