Farmer, Percival Gilmore 'Jim' (Gunner, b.1892 - d.1976)
Description
Six diaries written by 15016 Driver Percival Gilmore 'Jim' Farmer covering the period 16 December 1915 to 2 August 1919. Farmer's entries document enlistment and training in Australia; the journey to Egypt on 'SS Port Lincoln' in May 1916; training at Lark Hill in England and his transfer from Gunner to Driver. After joining the 18 Battery Australian Field Artillery in February, Farmer worked with the artillery horses and his concern for the animals is documented in short entries. The diary is expanded and developed by the accompanying narrative written by Mr Geoffrey Farmer.
